More than 50 new energy vehicles debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show

Xinhuanet Los Angeles, November 17 (Reporter Wang Jun) The Los Angeles International Auto Show began a two-day media preview on the 17th. More than 50 new energy vehicles participated in the auto show, leading the new trend of the international automotive industry.

According to the organizers, some of these new energy vehicles use hydrogen fuel cells, some use hybrid power, some use clean diesel fuel, and some rely on natural gas to provide energy. With the same goal, their common pursuit is long mileage, low carbon emissions, affordable for consumers and mass production.

Among the new energy vehicles, General Motors' Chevrolet VOLT and Nissan's LEAF are quite mature and will be launched soon, causing widespread concern in the industry and consumers. More than half of other new energy vehicles are already in mass production, including Toyota's new Prius and Honda Civic, which are expected to be available during the year. The rest is a concept car, indicating the direction of the development of new energy vehicles in the future.

For the first time, this auto show included electric vehicles in the “Green Car of the Year” selection, with the aim of encouraging car manufacturers to achieve greater results in environmental protection. The short-listed electric vehicles include the 2011 Chevrolet VOLT and the Ford Fiesta. The organizer will announce the list of winners on the 18th.

More than 900 cars participated in this auto show, and more than 50 of them were unveiled for the first time in international and North American regions. The auto show will be open to the public from the 19th to the 28th.

The Los Angeles International Auto Show was founded in 1907. In recent years, it was held at the Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center with an area of 32,000 square meters. It is one of the four major auto shows in North America recognized by the International Automobile Industry Organization (OICA).
