The engine crankshaft has undergone tremendous changes in manufacturing processes and tools. Leading multi-knife turning and hand-grinding processes for nearly half a century, entering the 21st century. Due to low processing precision and poor flexibility, it is gradually withdrawing from the historical stage. High-speed and high-efficiency composite processing technology and equipment have rapidly entered the automobile and parts manufacturing industry. High-speed and high-efficiency composite processing technology has been applied to a considerable extent in crankshaft processing and production, and will be its inevitable development trend.

Current status of crankshaft processing technology equipment
Most of the domestic crankshaft fresh production lines are composed of ordinary machine tools and special machine tools. Production efficiency and automation are relatively low. The roughing equipment generally uses a multi-tool lathe to turn the crankshaft main journal and the connecting rod journal. The process quality is poor, and it is easy to generate large machining stress, and it is difficult to achieve a reasonable machining allowance. Finishing generally uses ordinary crankshaft grinders such as MQ8260 for rough grinding, semi-finishing, fine grinding and polishing, usually by manual operation, with unstable processing quality and poor dimensional consistency.

Calculated according to the processed ductile iron crankshaft, one of the main features of the old production line is that there are too many ordinary equipment. A production line has 3,540 units. The author has examined a domestic forged steel crankshaft production line, rough machining using ordinary external milling to machine the main journal and connecting rod neck, then CNC fine car main shaft and connecting rod neck, and then through multiple processes of grinding to the finishing Process. Therefore, this production line has more than 60 sets of equipment, resulting in a long product turnover line and a large area occupied by the site. The production efficiency is completely improved by the decomposition process and margin of multiple equipments.
